Built On Sand was inspired by the life that happens around beach volleyball.

Last summer I watched my daughter Alex train with her new partner before heading to the East Coast Championship in Sand Keys, Florida. Standing there watching them find their rhythm on the sand — something clicked. This lifestyle deserved a brand.

Alex has been competing since she was 7. Silver medal at Nationals at 13 playing indoor. But beach volleyball was something different entirely. The pace slowed down. The sky got bigger. The game felt freer. And harder. Because sand doesn't make it easier — it makes the people who play it stronger. That's exactly the point.

The idea sat with me through the fall. When I was laid off from my HR career, I saw it as an opportunity. Instead of rushing into the next role, I finally had the time to build the thing I'd been sketching in my head all summer. A domain. A logo. A hoodie that Alex actually wanted to wear.
